Frustration

Postby Horseguy44 » Fri Nov 04, 2011 10:07 pm

Periodically I come back to try this program for another client project and come away frustrated again.

Strange things kept happening as I used the Materials Manager. Sometimes when I clicked on a material, and then clicked on the "select object using material" button, the part linked to the material would disappear (deleted apparently) and I'd have to hit undo. Sometimes when I click that button the part linked would change position causing another undo! What the *&%#!

If I double clicked on a saved simlab file in the windows browser, the default view would be something other than what I'd left it, even though I'd created a camera for that view...and the camera itself was missing as well as ALL my render sittings. It was as if the program was using the setting from the first time I'd saved rev1 not rev3 (after two save-as) iterations. Yet if I opened Simlab and choose from the list of recently opened files, the rev3 would load correctly. When I saved the rev3, I'd saved it into a folder on the company network. Is it possible it is saving subsequent saves to it's own folder burried under "C:|User" etc"? And why is it necessary for the program to default to a folder it takes 5 or 6 steps to find? I know it's possible for a program to assume the folder you've opened the file from is the one you want to save to (by default), so could this program be made to do that too?

Is there going to be a bug fix rev soon? And where is that materials overview we've been promised in rev2.4?

Regarding your first issue, please do the following. Send the model with steps to support@simlab-soft.com we will be glad to check it and fix any problem of this kind to you.

SimLab Composer can either open or import a sim file, when opening a sim file rendering settings and camera information are brought from the opened file, while this does not happen when importing a sim file. When importing the sim file you are adding its geometry to the existing scene.

The material document will be available this month.
