SimLab Composer 2013 (64 bit support)

Postby SimLab » Fri Mar 23, 2012 6:59 pm

In addition to the 32 bit version, SimLab Composer will be available as a 64 bit executable.

All importers were updated to be 64 bit (except the SketchUp reader/writer which is 32 bit but will work fine with the 64 bit version)

The user will be able to use the 64 bit version to import extremely large models to SimLab Composer.

During this process all importers of SimLab Composer were updated to the latest versions with clear enhancements in IGES, STEP, ACIS, U3D and 3D PDF

Hello,

This is a great news for professional user like us. Your software works very fine. This is the reason why we purchase a license for Simlab Composer Animation and a license for SketchUp Plugin.

Our company uses SketchUp to do a requirement document for our mechanical subcontractor which design with Solidworks the mechanical part of our systems. We use a lot of the .step format too with others mechanical subcontractor. With v2.4 in 32 bit we have some issues with a step with a size of about 120MB.

So because it is not explicite, could you confirm or not that the SketchUp plugin will be in 64 bit too (I don't know if it's possible because Google SketchUp Software is not in 64 bit. This is the problem with Google apps, the support is really bad, SketchUp has not been improved since Google bought it to the previous company who developed it and to not have a 64 bit version in 2012 is really annoying mostly because of 4GB of RAM limitation).

I thank you in advance.

Best regards. ;)

You are correct, SketchUp is still 32 bit, and we have to use the SketchUp of the 32 bit libraries.
this is only true for SketchUp and Collada.

Despite that larger models can be exported in SimLab Composer, the reason is that the 32 bit is only used when importing the SketchUp model, after that the model is handled in the 64 bit composer.

So you still should be able to work with the really large models.
