SimLab Composer 2013 (Picking part 1)

In the next release of SimLab Composer, the user will be able to generate and view edges.

This can be done by clicking the tool button show edges, which will automatically generate and show edges in the scene.

Generating edges, enables new picking modes in SimLab Composer. New picking modes in SimLab Composer will take the guessing out from moving objects and creating animations , which will make Mechanical designers and architects more comfortable using SimLab Composer.

Clicking the tool button place pivot enables the user to move the pivot of the selected object to a new location

For example the user can do this by changing the picking mode to end of edge, selecting the edge to be used, then clicking the correct mark.

This will place the pivot at the closest end of the picked edge, and will align the pivot’s z axis with the edge direction.

Which enables the user to open the cabinet around the correct edge.

Love the new updated features that you have posted. On the picking the edges I hope this means we could also use the "move to" button to move the edge of one object to the edge of another. This would be great for a project I am working on now where while regrouping and setting up textures found an error and have to remodel two faces and replace them. Now I will have to import the new version and then manually move the new faces into place which is going to be no fun at all. With the new "edge select" could I simply select the edge of the new face and move to the edge of one of the existing faces?

Hello Neilr,

At this moment this is not supported, but as you needed I will do my best to have this included in the release.

Best Regards,

That would be great. As it turns out doing manually was not to difficult I just made my changes to the Part and then imported the entire assembly in, then using the advance placement tab I just copied and pasted the coords so they were lined up exactly, Then just deleted everything but the faces I need to replace.
