SimLab Composer 2013 (integration with PTC/Creo and Alibre)

Postby SimLab » Thu Apr 19, 2012 10:39 am

The new version of SimLab Composer will introduce new integration with PTC/Creo and Alibre.

Installing the new integration component will enable the user to Export models to different files formats, generate advanced 3D PDF, export models to SimLab CAD Viewer for iPAd and to transfer models to SimLab Composer.

That sounds good. I am looking forward to the new version.

I have a question about integration of Alibre.

Will there be an update function?

Explanation:
I export my geometry from Alibre to Simlab Composer.
I add all the shader to the parts.
My scene is finished. 8-)

Now:
I change a little something in Alibre (radius or chamfer)
I export my geometry to Simlab Composer again (all parts have the same names)
Must i re-assign the shader or Simlab Composer recognizes the parts and assign the right shader?

Thanks for your reply.
regards

So long as you are not changing the manes of the parts it already has this functionality. In the "manage Materials" tab at the bottom there is the "retain Materials Library" button, so after you retain the materials library when you reimport the assembly you just need to load in the retained library. The problem for is that I often need to re-parent and re name my stuff for use in another program so I don't get to take advantage of the feature. But when I have it was a big time saver. Now they need to add in a feature to save the design tree organization so I can load that in and have all my parts reorganized so I don't have to do it all over again :-) as it is I am just going to have to do it right the first time. lol
