3D coat

Hi
Are there any plans to better support maps such as those produced by 3d Coat? I would really like to be able to vary the glossiness of various parts of a model and find the present choices such as "default", "plastic" and "metal" to be rather unrealistic even when using bump and normal maps.

Hi,
I experimented with the default material settings too. It was a useless amusement. “Ambient”, “specular”, “emission” and “reflection” settings do not have a visible impact.

In many renderers, default material is the starting point for creating custom materials of any type. For me it is a mystery, what purpose has SimLab’s default material???

I think that the minimum set of functions for default materials must be:

Diffuse - Select Color or Texture
Specular - Select Color or Texture
Bump - Texture
Normal - Texture,
Opacity - Select Color or Texture
Ambient - Select Color

Perhaps some advanced settings:

Roughness
Refraction
Glossyness etc...

Of course, everything has to function. :)

I use sometimes 3D-Coat too. But SimLab is not quite ready to use the coat's textures. The main reason is the lack of specular maps support.

As a addition I have long age wanted to write it. :)

All SL image based textures are default repeated. Is it possible to disable the repetition of the texture? This would be useful for printing, texts, labels etc. Decal works well only for flat surfaces. But it can not wrap the spherical or cylindrical objects(for example bottles, kettles, lamps etc...).
