Retain Texture coords

I think it would be great if the "Generate Texture Coordinates" tool would retain or read the current texture coords. I am working on a large model that has many varying planes, most require very specific texture coordinates for the desired texture to appear correctly. Many are similar and it would save me allot of time if I could select one that was done and "pull" the coords off of it to use as a starting point for the current plane.

The attached pic shows the top of a castle tower, one of several, each of the angled planes on the top need a slightly different texture coord to get the grout lines to line up. Currently I am able to just try and do them all one after the other, but there are many so when I begin a new session I have to begin finding the right coords from scratch, or use notes. Simply selecting a plane that was done and getting the coords would be nice. Also if I have to tweak them later I am basically starting from scratch again, I can't just select it and change a parameter here and there.

Of course there may be something that does this for me already and I am unaware (as has happened in the past) so if this is the case please let me in on it :-)
